# How to Lock or Unlock Your Capital One Card

> How to lock and unlock your Capital One card for security.

If you misplace your card, you can lock it right from your online account or the mobile app. Unlock it later if you find the card.

## Steps

1. Sign in to your Capital One account or app.
2. Go to the **Services** or **Card Settings** menu.
3. Find the card you want to lock.
4. Toggle the **Lock Card** switch to on.
5. Confirm the action if prompted.
6. To unlock later, return to the same screen and turn the switch off.

  A lock icon appears on the card once it is successfully locked.

## Helpful Tips

* Lock the card immediately if you cannot find it.
* Recurring payments may still process while your card is locked.
* Order a replacement if you're sure the card is lost.
