For your safety, Capital One will verify your identity before letting you change your password.

Steps

  1. Go to capitalone.com and click Sign In.
  2. Click the Forgot Username or Password link.
  3. Select Reset Password.
  4. Enter your username.
  5. Enter the last 4 digits of your SSN and your date of birth.
  6. Choose how to receive your one-time code (text, call, or email).
  7. Enter the code you receive.
  8. Create a new strong password.
  9. Confirm the new password.
  10. Sign in with the new password.
You will receive a confirmation email once your password has been changed.

  • Choose a password you have never used on other websites.
  • Update saved passwords in your browser or password manager.
  • Sign out of any other devices after resetting.
Never enter your new password on any site other than capitalone.com or the official mobile app.
